Pacers win Game 7 to advance to Eastern Conference Finals
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 130-109 in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2014.

Pacers’ guard Tyrese Haliburton helped lead his team to victory, scoring a team-high 26 points, six assists, and six three-point baskets. All five of the Pacers’ starters scored 17+ points, contributing 102 of Indiana’s 130 total points scored. Indiana as a team shot 67.1% from the field in Game 7, the highest team field goal percentage of a team in the playoffs in NBA history.

Indiana’s lights-out performance helped them capture their fourth victory in the past five playoff games against New York and allowed them to advance to play the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo scored a game-high 39 points and nine made three-point baskets, a franchise playoff record in both categories. New York’s star guard, Jalen Brunson, was forced to leave the game early due to a hand injury late in the third quarter, later revealed to be a fractured left hand.

Before exiting the contest, Brunson scored 17 points and nine assists; however, the remaining Knicks starters, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Isaiah Hartenstein, combined for 15 points. Knicks guard Alec Burks took the injured Brunson’s spot at the point guard position and finished with a series high 26 points; however, his breakout performance was not enough to push the Knicks past the Pacers.

The Indiana Pacers will visit the Boston Celtics at TD Garden on Tuesday, May 21, for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
